Concept News Now:
“When things aren’t going right, go left” – the gist of this quotation by Lemony Snicket is that when you are pursuing something and putting a lot of effort into it, and yet are unable to achieve it, maybe what you need is a slight change of trajectory in the method you are applying in your pursuit.
Because it works. The slight change in actions brings a yawning difference in the outcome of your struggle. Jeff Eiben, a tech entrepreneur and the founder of River Point Technology, stands as an apt instance of that. We present him as an example because when he opened River Point Technology, now an acclaimed enterprise in cloud computing technology, he had nothing in mind.
With no business plan and an incomplete strategy, he set sail in the stormy waters of the business world. Jeff rowed, and rowed, but to no avail. The business was running rudderless, and although he was right in pointing out that the cloud technology is the need of the minute, it was left to speculation what made businesses choose otherwise.
After much deliberation, Jeff was finally able to step in the right direction. After failing at first, he reevaluated the market, sketched plans, and shifted his focus to ‘value creation technology’, a model that would later change his destiny along with many others.
“I had misjudged the market and thought that it would reciprocate to cloud computing once we brought it to them. Our market timing was wrong. But then changed the direction and saw what average businesses were going through and so observed a complete lack of innovation. I felt like this discovery was telling me to refine my methodology, and so I did. I started focusing on consumable solutions that the average business could consider and adopt, and that led me to the formation of value creation technology,” shared Jeff.
The Value Creation Technology is a tested methodology that was later adopted by River Point Technology to guide its clients to take strategic risks by incorporating cloud technology in their business design with the potential to deliver a measurable business impact. The outcome-oriented designing initiatives are at the heart of the methodology that results in small gains and losses.
Rather than going big, Jeff decided to start small and that’s what has made all the difference. The VCT methodology allowed his clients to either fail fast or generate a small win.
“Using this technology, when you fail, you do so with limited financial loss and limited damage to your credibility. And when you win, people notice, your credibility increases, and resistance decreases. You measure the results of that win to determine whether or not to make another investment in the technology. A series of small wins creates a viral interest and support that spreads throughout the organization. This dramatically increases your chances of successfully scaling the technology within the existing culture and resources of the organization. That process, too, is addressed in the methodology,” reads an excerpt from the upcoming book of Jeff Eiben.
After River Point Technology embedded ‘value creation technology’ in their business, it worked tremendously for them. The company was able to help hundreds of brands, including the world’s largest brands, digitize their business and transform into the cloud era.
So, next time, if things aren’t working right, don’t forget to try going left!

If you could meet Jeff Eiben in his childhood, he would’ve left you baffled with his ability to solve complex mathematical equations. Talking to him about science would’ve introduced you to a little, brewing scientist glossed over in this child. His passion for both knew no bounds and you could almost see his curious face to be always on to something – scribbling, making, breaking, tinkering – one glimpse at him and you would know there is something big in making.
Now we know what that something big turned out to be – one of the top 100 tech influencers in the world and the founder of a trailblazing cloud computing company, River Point Technology.
Jeff was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, along with two older brothers. Their upbringing was carried out by their mother after the divorce ended the relationship between their parents and his father moved to California. It wasn’t easy growing up, but Jeff had found mathematics and science to be soothing and engrossing so he kept himself occupied in his own little world where curiosity spearheaded his life.
It eventually landed him in an engineering school at West Virginia University where he aced all his semesters. A bright student, Jeff did remarkably well on every count in his college life and emerged as an ambitious, distinguished professional. His approach toward engineering was unique from others. While his colleagues and other engineering graduates resorted to obtaining high-paying, traditional engineering jobs, he stood laser-focused on finding solutions to the problems encountering technology.
“I have found people in technology to often overcomplicate problems, resulting in unrealized gains. I, on the other side, have always stressed on focusing core concepts and keeping things simple,” says Jeff. “This approach allows me to get to the end result quicker and be able to move forward, without getting lost in the woods,” he further added.
Engineering is considered one of the cut-throat fields around the world, provided the growing number of annual graduates every year. In the US alone, nearly half a million engineers enter the industry annually. These stats make it imperative for graduates to adopt a skillset that could fit in a competitive space and earn them some succor and sustenance. Luckily, Jeff qualified in each domain; he not only stood out because of his approach to his interests, but he also introduced a technology that will alter the fate of a plethora of companies around the US.
And that technology was cloud computing technology. It’s not like he invented it – cloud technology existed for decades. However, businesses were speculative to use it and reap its benefits. Mr. Eiben founded River Point Technology and embarked on a mission to help companies understand cloud technology and how it would impact them.
And… voila!
In the next few years, he was so successful in achieving his mission that River Point Technology was recognized for its efforts, innovation, and growth and received multiple awards including HashiCorp’s 2022 Innovation Partner of the year. Besides that, the company was also a finalist in Pittsburgh Business Times Fast 50 (for the two years), Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 for Innovation, and CRN Top 250 NextGen. Jeff himself has been included in the list of Top 100 Technology Influencers in 2021 by InterCon.
There were plenty of hitches along the journey though – failures happened, people left, distress peaked, disappointments ensued – but Jeff weathered everything like a true professional and stood adamant in pursuit of his goals. No wonder then why he’s being written in these words today and read by masses around the world, including you.

You must have heard, unplanned things often end up constituting the best moments of your life. Well, they constitute the best enterprises as well.
And we have got a perfect case in point, River Point Technology, a company dedicated to helping companies transition into cloud computing technology, and a company born out of nowhere, thanks to Jeff Eiben.
A tech entrepreneur, technologist, and engineer, Jeff Eiben had umpteen interests growing up with divorced parents and two brothers in Pittsburgh. He wasn’t much of an art guy from the start as the love for science and technology had pretty much occupied the center stage of his life. Following that, he attended an engineering school at West Virginia University where he ushered as an ambitious student with dreams high as mountains.
His unique, solution-oriented approach to engineering enabled him to recognize problems many never focused on. Throughout his journey, from school to university, from university to professional life, and from professional life to his entrepreneurship career, he was keen observant. That’s why when he realized the perks and privileges offered by cloud computing for businesses, he didn’t dither and founded River Point Technology.
What happened next? Let’s hear it from himself!
“I started River Point Technology with no experience as a business owner previously as I was always in technical sales roles,” says Jeff Eiben. “I tend to be the one who is not afraid of trying something and challenging my boundaries. I always wanted to run my own business and made up my mind that why don’t just give it a try,” he further said, adding that he was thinking if things don’t work out, he was more than marketable to get back into the business.
Interestingly, Jeff didn’t undertake any preparations. He opened River Point Technology with no business plan. Although a high-level strategy existed, it too lacked the required focus. So basically, it was a shot in the dark.
“I hung a shingle and started calling my network about the opportunities around cloud technology and where they existed in this race. What I found was surprising; the market was incredibly immature and companies weren’t moving as fast as I anticipated,” shared Jeff.
The start was more disappointing than promising for Jeff, even more so than he expected. He learned that market timing is crucial for business success, and one should strike only when the iron is hot. However, little did he know that the disappointment stemming from mediocre results in business was to be the foundation stone of his success in the industry.
“While I was considering my business to be a ‘no-brainer’, the average company was so busy just trying to keep the lights on and focusing on the day-to-day. That’s why the daily grind didn’t leave them with the time to focus on innovation, which, though is indispensable, remained an under-funded priority,” Jeff shared more.
That discovery led him to focus on ‘value creation technology’ and a model to form a particular solution. According to Jeff, when they adopted this approach at business and scanned the market under it, they have since been on the front edge of technology innovation and have helped the world’s largest brands in support of their needs in the cloud space.
From starting as a novice in the business world to climbing to the top of it, that’s the story of Jeff Eiben and it’s still far-off the last chapter.
